Reflecting with State Marketplace Partners

Preliminary Health Insurance Prices and New Board Member Announcements

To Our Valued Stakeholders,

Last week, members of our Leadership Team attended and participated in NASHP’s State Marketplace Network summer forum in Minneapolis. Our own Chief Product Officer, Kelly Davies, was invited to present a deeper dive into our strategies for helping customers choose and stay enrolled in the right health plan for their needs. It was a pleasure to see friendly faces and to meet new marketplace colleagues. Colorado is one of a handful of states that has been operating its own marketplace since the first Open Enrollment in 2013. As such, it’s our privilege to share our lessons learned and experiences with more recently established state marketplaces.

I like to say, if you’ve experienced one state-based marketplace, you’ve experienced just one state-based marketplace. That is, each SBM plays a unique role in their state, and none of us are set up or serve our residents in the same way. But, regardless of our similarities or differences, it’s affirming to spend time with folks who do this special work. I appreciate the chance to learn how their structure allows them to operate and connect on the challenges we anticipate moving forward. I’m really looking forward to the annual conference this September and keeping these conversations going with our state marketplace partners.

Preliminary Health Insurance Prices Show Modest Increases for 2025
Earlier this week, the Colorado Division of Insurance (DOI) announced that it has completed its initial review of the health insurance plans that the companies have filed for 2025. Their preliminary review indicates that the consumer impact for all individual health plans from all companies will be an average 5.5 percent increase in premiums. While things can change as the DOI conducts its next round of analysis, I’m optimistic to see modest increases proposed for 2025.

On Thursday, July 25, the DOI will hold a virtual stakeholder meeting from 9:30-11:30 a.m. MDT, to share preliminary information regarding health insurance for 2025. You can review key information from the initial plans and register for the stakeholder meeting on the Division of Insurance’s website.
