You can cancel your health insurance plan through Connect for Health Colorado anytime by contacting the Customer Service Center and requesting a termination. However, you will not be able to enroll in a new plan until the next Open Enrollment Period unless you experience a Life Change Event. (This could result in a gap in coverage.) In most cases, when you cancel your health insurance plan, the termination date of the plan will be effective the first of the following month. For example, if you cancel your coverage on July 20, you will be covered through the end of July and your termination date will be effective August 1.

Newly qualify for Health First Colorado

If you are enrolled in a health insurance plan through Connect for Health Colorado and later qualify for Health First Colorado (Colorado’s Medicaid program), you will still need to call us to request to cancel your plan. This is because you can choose to stay enrolled in the plan. However, you will no longer qualify for financial help to lower the monthly cost.
