“We appreciate the strong interest among Coloradans to purchase health insurance through Connect for Health Colorado and we are focused on supporting all of our customers to complete their enrollments,” said Patty Fontneau, CEO of Connect for Health Colorado. “We also want Coloradans to know that they can sign up until January 15 for February 1, 2014, coverage and ongoing until March 31, 2014.”

Coloradans who complete their sign up process and select plans by today will receive invoices from their chosen carriers and will need to make their first month’s premium payment by January 10, 2014. Enrollments are not complete until carriers receive their first payment. Customers who access medical care after January 1 but have not paid their premium yet may need to pay for the services and then submit a claim after their payment is received. Connect for Health Colorado is working closely with carriers to support customers through this process to ensure coverage for January 1, 2014.

Connect for Health Colorado has been open since October 1 and operates with separate technology and customer service operations from the federal marketplace, healthcare.gov. Connect for Health Colorado is open to individuals, families and small businesses, offering health insurance options. Individuals and families can choose from up to 150 private health insurance plans from ten carriers and small employers can create small group plans from up to 92 health insurance plans provided by six carriers.

The Customer Service Center is open from 7 am to midnight today and 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday. The Customer Service Center will be closed on Christmas and will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday and Friday. More information is available at www.ConnectforHealthCO.com.

“It is a very busy time at Connect for Health Colorado as we support thousands of Coloradans who are signing up for health insurance that will begin January 1, 2014,” said Patty Fontneau, CEO of Connect for Health Colorado. “We are focused on encouraging Coloradans to sign up now for health insurance and providing a range of ways for customers to get the help they need to complete the process.”

“Coloradans who want health insurance coverage starting in January are encouraged to apply now and avoid the last minute rush,” said Susan Birch, Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing. “Getting your Medicaid application in now will allow you extra time to get in person or on the phone assistance to help you through the application.”

The pace of enrollments has increased in recent weeks. Connect for Health Colorado will be taking applications until December 23 for January 1, 2014 coverage. However, we are encouraging Coloradans who want to use an advanced premium tax credit to reduce the cost of their health insurance to submit their application before December 20 to allow time for processing.

Coloradans seeking an advance premium tax credit must first be determined not eligible for Medicaid.  While you may get an immediate Medicaid decision upon application, errors on your application or problems verifying your information can delay application processing by the State.  The State is reviewing applications that do not get an immediate Medicaid determination in the order they were received.

Coloradans can also purchase health insurance until December 23 without applying for financial assistance and receive the tax credit, if eligible, when they file taxes in 2015. Coloradans who applied by December 23 but didn’t receive their Medicaid determination can also purchase health insurance and pay the first month’s premium and then get the tax credit applied to the rest of 2014 payments.

If you miss the deadlines, your application will be considered for a coverage start date later in 2014. Open enrollment for Connect for Health Colorado continues until March 31, 2014. Medicaid does not have an open enrollment period.

Through state laws, Connect for Health Colorado was established as a non-profit entity with a Colorado mission. In addition, Colorado is expanding eligibility for Medicaid. Private health insurance purchased through Connect for Health Colorado’s competitive marketplace and the expanded eligibility for Medicaid both take effect starting January 1, 2014. Enhanced federal funding that is available starting January 1, 2014 will support the Medicaid expansion.  Colorado.gov/PEAK is the online application for Medicaid and the Child Health Plan Plus (CHP+).  Medicaid and CHP+ do not have an open enrollment period and takes applications year round.

Ben Davis, [email protected], 303-522-6790

Enrollments are breaking records each day this week, with a total of 1,090 people signing up for private health insurance on Wednesday alone through Connect for Health Colorado. The increased demand is causing longer wait times at certain periods of the day at the Connect for Health Colorado Customer Service Center. Wait times are generally highest between 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. and the busiest days are Monday and Tuesday. Currently, the lowest wait times are between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. and between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.

“We are encouraged to see a record pace of sign-ups from Coloradans who will have comprehensive coverage starting January 1,” said Connect for Health Colorado CEO Patty Fontneau. “We want to let Coloradans know that our Customer Service Center is seeing record demand and that there are better times to call to access support, and there are other ways to get help, if needed.”

The Customer Service Center in Colorado Springs, and Denver satellite office, currently has over 150 trained Representatives taking customer calls between 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Saturday. The Customer Service Center has added resources and will continue to add capacity this month as the December 23 deadline approaches to have coverage begin January 1, 2014. The Customer Service Center will be open the next three Sundays (December 8, 15 and 22) from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. to accommodate more customers. The toll-free phone number is 1-855-PLANS-4-YOU (855-752-6749).

Connect for Health Colorado encourages Coloradans to sign up as soon as possible, and before the Dec. 23 deadline for January 1, 2014, coverage. Customers who sign up for health plans will receive bills from their chosen carriers in the next two weeks, if they haven’t already, and will have until at least the end of December to send the first month’s premium payment. Open enrollment continues until March 31, 2014, so Coloradans who miss the December deadline will still have the opportunity to sign up. Certified Health Coverage Guides and licensed health insurance agents/brokers are available to provide in-person assistance to customers of the Marketplace. Coloradans can look for in-person help in their communities on our website and through our free Android mobile app that is available for download here.

Connect for Health Colorado is also traveling across the state with a branded RV to conduct outreach as part of a Holiday Connect to Coverage Campaign. More information about the campaign is available here.

Connect for Health Colorado Makes Enrollment Push

Here, Here and Here: A Made-In Colorado Campaign

DENVER (Nov. 13, 2013) – Connect for Health Colorado™ is encouraging health insurance enrollment with a ‘Made in Colorado’ campaign that focuses on the opportunities that are available for residents from Alamosa to Burlington, Craig to Kiowa, Gunnison to Fort Collins and all points in-between. Thousands of Coloradans have already enrolled since Colorado’s own marketplace opened October 1 for individuals, families and small businesses.

“We designed our Marketplace to reflect what is important in our state – an open, competitive environment with lots of choice,” said CEO Patty Fontneau. “As we communicate and educate about the new health insurance options, we wanted to have Coloradans speaking to fellow Coloradans.”Connect for Health Colorado Ad

The $4.2 million paid media campaign, produced by Denver-based agency PILGRIM, includes television, radio, print, online, mobile, billboard and search engine marketing tactics. In addition to advertising, Connect for Health Colorado is taking part in education and outreach events across Colorado and grassroots outreach at sports events and high-traffic locations.  [View TV ads on YouTube.] There also are new educational web videos and informational materials about the Marketplace and new federal tax credits – in English and Spanish – available on the web site ConnectforHealthCO.com.

Advertising video and photographs were taken in Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Frisco, Grand Junction, Ouray, Lakewood, Commerce City, Idaho Springs and Denver. “It touches our community constantly, the young, creative community,” said Director Jasper Gray of Futuristic, the Denver-based film and production company that shot the television spots. “I see it time and time again, people who get sick or hurt don’t have insurance, and then can’t get it because then they have a pre-existing condition. Our whole community is one that needs to think carefully about health insurance and should benefit from these changes.”

Many partner organizations, including the Colorado Consumer Health Initiative, One Colorado and the Piton Foundation, are launching their own campaigns to drive customers to Connect for Health Colorado. These initiatives are separate from the Connect for Health Colorado campaign.
