Connect for Health Colorado Update – Week 1

DENVER, CO – Connect for Health Colorado, Colorado’s new health insurance marketplace for individuals, families and small businesses, released metrics for the first week of operations. The first week was marked by tremendous consumer interest and quick responses to operational issues while delivering responsive personalized customer support.

“Our first week of operations was exciting and extremely busy as more than a hundred thousand Coloradans visited our website to start the shopping process for health insurance,” said CEO Patty Fontneau. “This is a strong start as we work to sign up thousands of Coloradans for health insurance.”

Individuals, families and small businesses started looking at their health insurance options and shopping for coverage that will take effect as early as January 1, 2014. The Customer Service Center in Colorado Springs experienced high call volumes throughout the week.

Open enrollment continues until March 31, 2014. Individuals and families can choose from up to 150 private health insurance plans from ten carriers and small employers can create small group plans from up to 92 health insurance plans provided by six carriers. New financial assistance will be available to nearly 500,000 Coloradans to reduce costs. The Customer Service Center is open from 7 am to 8 pm Mondays through Saturdays at 1-855-PLANS-4-YOU (855-752-6749).

DENVER, CO – Here is an update about the first two days at Connect for Health Colorado, the state’s new health insurance marketplace for individuals, families and small businesses.

“The first two days of operations at Connect for Health Colorado were full of activity, with thousands of consumers visiting our website and calling our customer support network,” said CEO Patty Fontneau. “While there have been some challenges, we are pleased to see that Coloradans are looking at their options, shopping and signing up for health plans.”

Activity for period between 8 am October 1 and end of day on October 2:

  • Unique website visitors: 107,000
  • Calls and chats with Customer Service Center Representatives: 6,400
  • Accounts created: 8,400

Going forward, data will be released weekly or monthly, according to a schedule approved by the Board in September.

The English and Spanish websites have been open since 8 am Tuesday, serving individuals, families and small businesses for coverage that will take effect as early as January 1, 2014. Open enrollment continues until March 31, 2014. Individuals and families can choose from up to 150 private health insurance plans from 10 carriers and small employers can create small group plans from up to 92 health insurance plans provided by six carriers. New financial assistance will be available to nearly 500,000 Coloradans to reduce costs.

Due to high volume of activity, the website has experienced intermittent error messages, which continue to be resolved. Our Customer Service Center Representatives are available by phone from 7 am to 8 pm, Mondays through Saturdays, at 1-855-PLANS-4-YOU (855-752-6749). You can locate an Assistance Site near you to contact for in-person assistance and you can find a list of more than 1,400 certified licensed health insurance agents and brokers for advice. “Day one of operations was exciting and extremely busy as tens of thousands of Coloradans visited our website to start the shopping process for health insurance,” said CEO Patty Fontneau. “We’re ready for Day 2 and taking all the necessary steps to enhance our customer service operations online, over the phone and in person.”

As of 8 pm on October 1:

  • Total web page hits: 12 million
  • Calls and chats with Customer Service Center Representatives: 3,700
  • Accounts created: 5,500
  • Average call wait time: 3 minutes 49 seconds

Connect for Health Colorado Noon Update

The Connect for Health Colorado Marketplace is up and operational. We went live just before 8:00AM and have completed our first enrollments.

We have had over 34,500 unique visitors and over 1300 accounts created in the first three hours.

This morning, due to strong consumer interest, we experienced some intermittent error messages and suspended account creation for a short time while we solved them.

We’ve addressed these errors and are in the process of enabling account creation. We expect consumers will be able to start creating accounts again before 12:30 MST today. Anonymous shopping is currently available, and for all consumers that have already created an account, they can shop and checkout.

Connect for Health Colorado Opens Health Insurance Marketplace for Individuals, Families and Small Businesses

DENVER, CO – Colorado’s new health insurance marketplace for individuals, families and small businesses opened today with the launch of the new shopping website, offering 242 health plans from 11 carriers, and a broad statewide Customer Support Network to personally assist shoppers.

“We are excited to welcome Coloradans to the opening of the Connect for Health Colorado marketplace, a new way to shop for health insurance,” said CEO Patty Fontneau. “Our shop and compare website and extensive network of support are available today thanks to the many partners and stakeholders that have worked with us.”

Individuals, families and small businesses can look at their health insurance options and shop for coverage that will take effect as e early as January 1, 2014 if you sign up by December 23. Open enrollment continues until March 31, 2014. Individuals and families can choose from up to 150 private health insurance plans from ten carriers and small employers can create small group plans from up to 92 health insurance plans provided by six carriers. New financial assistance, based on income,   will be available to nearly 500,000 Coloradans to reduce costs. Shoppers can buy insurance today and claim a tax credit on their taxes or apply for an advance tax credit to use up-front to reduce the monthly premium.

From videos to County Snapshots and a tax credit calculator, the Marketplace offers many ways for Coloradans to learn about their options. Our new Customer Service Center has expanded hours, so Coloradans can reach a Customer Service Center Representative by phone from 7 am to 8 pm, Mondays through Saturdays, at 1-855-PLANS-4-YOU (855-752-6749).
