With the addition of new competitors in the health insurance\nmarket and the introduction of a <a href=\"http:\/\/leg.colorado.gov\/bills\/hb19-1168\">reinsurance program<\/a> (which helps\ninsurers with their most costly claims), the average individual health\ninsurance premium next year will be 20.2 percent lower, according to the\nColorado Division of Insurance. That savings is before the financial help\navailable in the form of advance premium tax credits, of which 77 percent of\ncurrent customers qualify. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nbenchmark plan used to determine how much financial help Coloradans can qualify\nfor through the Marketplace also decreased. As a result, customers who qualify\nfor financial help should shop for a new plan in order to take advantage of\nsavings. Those who expect to use medical care should consider factors beyond\nthe premium. For some Coloradans, their costs for a Gold plan will be\ncomparable to Silver plan premiums after the financial help is applied. Others\nmay find a Bronze plan with very low or even $0 premium. We hear from customers that their medical needs,\nbudgets and household situations also change,\u201d said Chief Executive Officer\nKevin Patterson. \u201cThat\u2019s why we\u2019re encouraging everyone\nto compare plans and think about the total costs of care before making a\nselection.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Consumers can use the Quick Cost and Plan Finder\ntool or the Marketplace\u2019s statewide network of hundreds of certified brokers to\nhelp them decide which plan is right for them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2020, eight health insurance companies will\nbe offering plans through the Marketplace, including a new carrier, Oscar\nHealth. Peak Health Alliance will also offer plans through the Marketplace to\nresidents of Summit County via Bright Health. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Open\nEnrollment runs from November 1, 2019, to\nJanuary 15, 2020.
