The program envisioned in <a href=\"https:\/\/leg.colorado.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/documents\/2018A\/bills\/2018a_1392_01.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">HB 1392<\/a> would assist health insurance companies with high cost claims to keep premium increases down.<\/p>\n<p>Containing premium costs through a reinsurance program is of particular benefit to buyers who do not qualify for tax credit help and is aligned with Connect for Health Colorado\u2019s mission to \u201cincrease access, affordability and choice\u201d to Coloradans buying health insurance.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/leg.colorado.gov\/bills\/hb18-1392\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Learn more<\/a> about the legislation.<\/p>\n<p>I mentioned last week that a new law will allow brokers to charge a fee for assisting a customer in certain circumstances.<\/p>\n<p>The state Division of Insurance will develop rules on implementing the law. We have posted some information on <a href=\"\/get-started\/resources-for-partners\/brokers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">our site<\/a>, and you can <a href=\"https:\/\/leg.colorado.gov\/bills\/sb18-136\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">read<\/a> the text of the bill.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In the News<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Wisconsin\u2019s governor this week submitted a 1332 waiver request to U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to establish a reinsurance program, similar to the waiver request that is called for in HB 1392.
