{"id":28586,"date":"2017-05-05T14:27:00","date_gmt":"2017-05-05T20:27:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/?p=28586"},"modified":"2017-05-16T13:38:25","modified_gmt":"2017-05-16T19:38:25","slug":"ceo-blog-house-vote","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/connectforhealthco.com\/es\/ceo-blog-house-vote\/","title":{"rendered":"CEO Blog: House Vote"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>To Our Valued Stakeholders,<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Thursday\u2019s vote in the U.S. House of Representatives is dominating news coverage as the debate at the federal level moves to the U.S. Senate.\u00a0 The New York Times provided <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2017\/05\/04\/us\/politics\/major-provisions-republican-health-care-bill.html?ribbon-ad-idx=5&amp;rref=homepage\" target=\"_blank\">analysis<\/a> of the current measure, as did the <a href=\"http:\/\/healthaffairs.org\/blog\/2017\/05\/03\/new-8-billion-for-those-with-preexisting-conditions-appears-to-boost-ahca-critics-say-amount-is-too-low\/\" target=\"_blank\">Health Affairs Blog<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I think it\u2019s important to remember this vote is one step in a long process and the legislation is expected to change in the Senate. Health insurance industry <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ahip.org\/ahip-issues-statement-as-the-ahca-act-heads-to-the-senate\/\" target=\"_blank\">reaction<\/a>, from America\u2019s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP), focused on opportunities to improve the bill in that chamber. Already, Republican senators are talking of writing their own bill, according to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.al.com\/news\/index.ssf\/2017\/05\/senate_likely_to_slow_repeal_o.html\" target=\"_blank\">Washington Post<\/a>. Any changes in the Senate would have to go back to the House so we are a long way from seeing the final direction of this legislation.<\/p>\n<p>We continue to work with our representatives at the state and federal level to protect the health coverage of all Coloradans and find solutions to the challenge of increasing access, affordability and choice.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Board Update <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>We will update our board of directors on our <a href=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/c4-media\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/C4HCO-Strategic-Planning-Project-1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">strategic plan<\/a> when they meet Monday. We will also review with the board <a href=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/c4-media\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/FY-2018-Budget-Scenarios-2.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">budget scenarios<\/a> for next year.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>In Recent News<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Nearly lost in all of the attention focused on the debate around the House bill was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.consumerreports.org\/personal-bankruptcy\/how-the-aca-drove-down-personal-bankruptcy\/\" target=\"_blank\">encouraging news<\/a> reported by Consumer Reports on the positive impact the Affordable Care Act has had on personal bankruptcies. The number was cut in half after the law took effect, demonstrating the impact medical expenses have on personal budgets.
