DENVER<\/strong> \u2013 Adela Flores-Brennan, executive director of the Colorado Consumer Health Initiative, has been named to the Connect for Health Colorado\u00ae board of directors by Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper.<\/p>\n

Flores-Brennan brings more than 15 years of work in law and public policy in Colorado, the past seven in health care policy, to her position on the board of directors overseeing the state health insurance Marketplace.  A former staff member at Connect for Health Colorado, she served as director of our community-based assistance programs before taking her current position leading CCHI, a statewide, non-profit advocacy group working on behalf of healthcare consumers.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re pleased to welcome Adela to our Board,\u201d said Board Chair Sharon O\u2019Hara. \u201cHer experience working on behalf of healthcare consumers will be of great benefit to our customers and her understanding of Connect for Health Colorado will serve this organization well as we chart a course to grow the Marketplace and increase coverage in our state for individuals, families and small businesses.\u201d<\/p>\n

As CCHI\u2019s executive director, Flores-Brennan is responsible for advancing public policy, guiding strategic and operational planning, and providing leadership and management support. She graduated from the University of Denver with a BA and MA in International Studies and from the University of Colorado with a Juris Doctorate.<\/p>\n

About Connect for Health Colorado<\/strong><\/p>\n

Connect for Health Colorado is a public, non-profit entity established in law by the Colorado General Assembly in 2011 to create a health insurance Marketplace.  It opened for business on Oct. 1, 2013, for individuals, families and small employers to compare and buy health insurance and apply for tax credits to help make their insurance more affordable. Customers can shop online; get help by phone or chat from expert Customer Service Center representatives; and find in-person assistance from certified brokers and agents, community based certified Health Coverage Guides or Certified Application Counselors. In 2015, the Marketplace has enrolled more than 140,000 Coloradans in private insurance and helped nearly 80,000 of them gain access to new tax credits that made their health coverage more affordable \u2013 all while keeping fees among the lowest in the country.
