DENVER, CO – Between October 1 and December 23, 42,771 Coloradans signed up for private health insurance that takes effect January 1, 2014. Monday was a record day for shopping volume, with 5,354 Coloradans who signed up. Connect for Health Colorado will continue to help customers who complete the sign-up process between today and Friday, December 27, to receive January 1 coverage. Open enrollment continues until March 31, 2014.

“Monday was our busiest shopping day as thousands of Coloradans came to our website to sign up by the deadline for January 1 2014 coverage,” said Patty Fontneau, CEO of Connect for Health Colorado. “We continue to help Coloradans who sign up today until Friday to get January 1 coverage. Coloradans can continue to sign up through March 31, 2014.”

Between today and Friday, December 27, Connect for Health Colorado will work with Coloradans who complete the enrollment process to get coverage effective January 1 2014. The Customer Service Center is closed on Christmas but the website will be available. More enrollment information for customers is available here.

Coloradans who complete their sign up process and select plans will receive invoices from their chosen carriers and will need to make their first month’s premium payment by January 10, 2014. Enrollments are not complete until carriers receive their first payment. Customers who access medical care after January 1 but have not paid their premium yet may need to pay for the services and then submit a claim after their payment is received.

Connect for Health Colorado has been open since October 1 and operates with separate technology and customer service operations from the federal marketplace, healthcare.gov. Connect for Health Colorado is open to individuals, families and small businesses, offering health insurance options. Individuals and families can choose from up to 150 private health insurance plans from ten carriers and small employers can create small group plans from up to 92 health insurance plans provided by six carriers.
